1. Intended Purpose
hermaid is a mobile software application for iOS and Android that supports adult women aged 18 and older experiencing symptoms related to hormonal changes as well as peri- and postmenopausal symptoms, through structured journaling and visualization of self-reported symptoms and related lifestyle factors. The app is used for:Documenting symptoms, mood, sleep, and lifestyle factorsDisplaying individual trends and patternsSupporting understanding of hormonal changes.

2. Indications
hermaid is intended to support adult women aged 18 and older experiencing symptoms related to hormonal changes as well as peri- and postmenopausal symptoms, through structured journaling and visualization of self-reported symptoms and related lifestyle factors.


3. Description of Functions
In normal operation, hermaid receives data you enter about symptoms, mood, period status, activities, possible triggers, medications/supplements (binary), and free-text notes. The software stores and organizes this information and generates trend graphs, symptom summaries, and tables — exclusively based on your own entries, without diagnostic or therapeutic conclusions.

Core functions:
Onboarding:
Recording symptoms, diagnoses, medications, and lifestyle. Creating a personal health profile.
Journaling: Regular entry of symptoms (e.g. hot flashes, sleep, mood).
Evaluations: Visualization of trends and connections based on your own data.
AI chat: General information on women's health and usage assistance. Not a substitute for medical advice. hermaid does not share personal data with the AI provider.
Teleconsultation: Booking video/audio appointments through the hermaid platform.
Course modules: Content on menopause, hormones, sleep, and stress.
Notifications: Reminders for entries, courses, or appointments (optional).
Employer programs: Available through employers. Employers have no access to individual health data.
Study participation: Voluntary participation in scientific studies possible where offered.

No interactions with medical treatments or medications are known to date.

5.3 Side Effects

5.4 Limitations of the App
hermaid is not a medical diagnostic tool. The app does not provide individualized medical diagnoses or treatment recommendations. AI content is for general informational purposes only.


6. Frequency of Use

Use is flexible — there is no minimum usage requirement. The more regularly you make entries, the more meaningful your trends become.
Journaling: Daily or several times a week (approx. 2–5 minutes per entry)
Course modules: Depending on the module; typically 10–20 minutes per unit
AI chat: As needed
Teleconsultations: Based on individual booking


7. Technical Requirements & Accessibility

7.1 Technical Requirements

Operating system: iOS 16 or higher, or Android 10 or higher
Network: Active internet connection (WiFi or mobile data)
Teleconsultation: Camera, microphone, and compatible browser required


7.2 Accessibility

hermaid supports the system-level accessibility features of iOS and Android: font scaling, high contrast modes, and screen reader compatibility. Accessibility questions: support@hermaid.me


8. Safety Notices and Warnings

- Not for emergencies. hermaid is not intended for emergency situations. In case of a medical emergency or danger to yourself: call 112 immediately.
- Does not replace medical advice. The app does not provide diagnoses or treatment recommendations. Always follow the advice of qualified professionals.
- Seek medical help for severe symptoms. In case of heavy bleeding, chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting, or new neurological symptoms, seek medical help immediately.
- Interpret trends carefully. Visualizations are based exclusively on your entries. Correlations do not prove causation.
- Enter information accurately. Inaccurate entries lead to misleading evaluations. Review and correct entries regularly.
- Educational content is general. Content does not automatically apply to your personal situation. Do not use for self-diagnosis or to stop taking medication.
- Use the app as support. Do not make important health decisions based solely on the app.
- Check your booking confirmation. Once you've booked an appointment, you'll receive a confirmation email and reminder emails. If you don't receive a confirmation, assume the appointment was not booked, and try again or contact us at support@hermaid.me.
- Teleconsultation. Sessions may be interrupted by network issues or platform outages. In case of an outage, follow the in-app instructions or contact support@hermaid.me.
- Protect your account and device. Enable screen lock, use a strong password, don't share your login credentials.
- Watch out for phishing. hermaid will never ask for your password by email or text message. Report suspicious messages to support@hermaid.me.
- Privacy in shared environments. Don't use the app within view of others. Adjust your notification settings.
- Limitations of the AI function. The AI function serves exclusively for general information and usage assistance — not a substitute for medical advice. Output is non-deterministic. hermaid does not share personal data with the AI provider. Do not enter personal or identifying information (name, address, email) in the chat.
- Do not enter sensitive data into the AI chat. Use the standard journaling screens to record symptoms and health data.
Accessibility. If you have reading difficulties, use your device's accessibility features (larger text, high contrast).


9. Technical Security
Protect your device with a PIN or biometric lock
Update the app regularly
Don't use sensitive features on unsecured WiFi networks
Don't enter personal data in the AI chat
Don't use while driving

12. Serious Incidents

13. Employer Programs

Employers can provide their employees access to hermaid through an employer program. Access is granted via an individual invite code or company email address.
Data protection: The employer never has access to individual health data, journal entries, or other personal usage data. Processing of your health data is based exclusively on your own consent.
